How do I get people to listen to the finished song?
Have you ever wanted to distribute your music to people around the world and have them listen to it, when your band’s songs or your own songs are finished?
If you have completed a song and are not sure how to export it or distribute it on various platforms (YouTube, Spotify, etc.), or if you want to make a CD, etc. but do not know how to do so, this section will explain how to export a completed song.
Before writing out a song
Before writing out a song, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Especially in GarageBand, if you make a mistake in the settings, the export may not be in the form you expect.
The end of the song is cut off in the middle or the song does not end well, which is a little different from the expected result.
You will learn what to do before exporting and how to set up the export format (where to export, to distribute online, to CD, etc.).
We also recommend that you keep the exported sound files in a safe place.
When you want to listen to a song you have created three months later, you may have a hard time finding where you saved it. It is good to keep your songs in a safe place and keep them as memories so that you can check your growth.
Turn off the metronome.
What we often do when writing out a song is to write it out with the metronome sound in the song because we have not turned off the metronome.
It is good if you notice a metronome in the song, but in a song with a band or other instruments mixed in, it is difficult to notice a click sound in the song. (It is only when the entire song is quiet that you notice the click sound in the song.)
When you are ready to have everyone listen to a song you have created, you may have to start all over again if there is a metronome sound in the song.
To turn the metronome On or Off, press the metronome button to turn it off.
The shortcut key is “K” on the keyboard.
Keep the cycle in.
To export a song, set the export range. This is important.
Set the length of the song and write out its range.
You can enter a cycle by pressing the button marked with this symbol.Only the range of a cycle can be exported, so be sure to include a cycle when exporting a single note or an entire song.
Shortcut keys can also apply cycles by pressing “C” on the keyboard.
Keep unwanted sounds muted.
If there are sound sources that you do not want to export, remember to mute them.
The mute button allows you to prevent muted sounds from being reflected in the export. Remember to set this if you have sound sources that you do not want.
The shortcut key can be muted with “M” on the keyboard.
Mute by region in GarageBand
GarageBand does not allow you to mute by region.
If you want to mute a track by region, move the track you want to mute to another track and use the per-track mute function to mute the sound.
Let’s hope this will be changed in an update.
How to export songs
We will now explain how to export various sound sources.
Write out a song for your use.
To export a song, select “Share” from the on-screen menu.
When you do so, a pull-down menu will appear that allows you to export the music to various locations, so choose where you want to export the music.
Music” for the song…
This is used when you want to export a song to music.
Songs to SoundCloud…
Use this if you want to export songs to SoundCloud.
AirDrop…
Use AirDrop to send song data to the other party, or to send data to someone nearby.
Email…
It is used when you want to send music data using e-mail.
Create CDs from songs…
This is used when you want to burn a song to CD. Recent Macs do not come standard with CDs, so you will need to use an external driver to burn them to a CD.
If you are using a Mac, we recommend that you use the Apple CD driver. At first, I used a CD driver from an unknown manufacturer because I thought a cheap one would be OK. However, it was difficult to use because it did not respond easily and froze in the middle of the process, so I changed to a genuine driver.
Bottom line, it is now comfortable.
Exporting songs to disk…
You can export to various locations such as HDD, SSD, desktop, etc. It may be useful to decide where you want to save your files.
Project to GarageBand for iOS…
You can send data to GarageBand on your iPhone or iPad.
It may be useful for band members when they are working on a song. It is also useful when working on a project created on the iPhone with GarageBand on the Mac.
When you come up with a song on the go, you will be able to use your iPhone to type the music and then process it in GarageBand for Mac when you get home.
Note that you can export songs from GarageBand for Mac and open them in GarageBand for iPhone, but you cannot open projects from GarageBand for Mac.
Not being able to open a project means that you cannot process each track, such as a MIDI track or a drummer track.
If you are creating a song in the Mac version of GarageBand, keep in mind that you cannot continue editing on the iPhone.
iIt will be possible to move the file from the Phone or iPad to the Mac and edit the rest of the file.
To do this, select “Project to GarageBand for iOS…” from the Share menu.
A pull-down menu will open.
１、Decide on a name. Choose any name you like. Below that is a tag, which can be added or not. You can add or not add a tag.
２、Save data to iCloud Drive.
３、Press SAVE to complete data saving.
Open GarageBand on your iPhone or iPad.
Next, open your iPhone or iPad version of GarageBand.
In the “Location” section of the Browser, select 4, iCloud Drive.
５、You can open the data you just exported in iCloud.
Once you open the transferred data, you can continue editing and see what’s inside in the iPhone version of Garage Band.
iPhoneやiPadで編集したGarageBandをMac版GarageBandに移す
There are times when you want to continue editing on your iPhone or other device and then transfer the data to your Mac.
In such cases, you can transfer the song to GarageBand for Mac to continue editing or pass the song to a band member by following the steps below.
１、Long press the data in iCloud Drive that you just sent.
Various items will come up. 2, Select Share.
３、You will be asked what format you would like to use.
４、Then, if you transfer the data to your Mac via AirDrop or other means, you can edit again on your Mac what you have been editing on your iPhone or iPad.
We recommend using the Mac version of GarageBand for editing that cannot be done on the iPhone or other devices, or for tasks that are difficult to do.
