An important element in a song is the tempo. Even the same song can sound different if the tempo of the song is changed. By being conscious of tempo when creating a cover song, it is possible to create a song that is different from the original.
Thus, tempo is a very important element in music production.
Change tempo
To change the tempo in GarageBand, move the cursor over the tempo position on the LCD in the center of the control panel You can also change the tempo by double-clicking to select the tempo, and then entering a numerical value directly on the keyboard.

Display tempo track
Another way is to bring up the tempo track and change the tempo.
To do this, simply select “Track” > “Show Tempo Track” from the on-screen menu bar.
Then, a tempo track will appear, and you can change the tempo by dragging this pointer (○ white circle) up and down.
This is linked to the liquid crystal display (LCD) mentioned earlier.
Change tempo anywhere
You can also change the tempo as desired at any location by adding more pointers.
By moving the pointers up and down, you can change the tempo of each pointer.
Next to the pointer (○ white circle) is a (● black circle). If you click and drag this pointer toward the left, you can smooth the curve and produce a slow tempo drop.
To erase the pointer, click and drag to select the pointer, then press the “delete” key on the keyboard.
If you want to erase the entire pointer, click and drag to select the entire area you want to erase, then press “delete” on the keyboard to erase the entire area.
